I heard that every man out there is wanting you now.
September 15th, 2008I’ve just put off talking about New York Fashion week long enough, I am just going to break it down into lists. So here are my top 5 6 collections from NYFW, in no particular order. Thank you, Anna.
Preen is the most underrated show of New York fashion week. It is consistently extremely sexy and well designed, and this season was no exception. I love the color pallet of neutrals and orange ending in black dresses is perfect for a chic spring, and I am excited to see a lot of those lace up sandals next summer.

Ohne Titel is one of the youngest brands showing during NYFW and this season was definitely their best showing yet. The combination of sex appeal and traditional suiting is really stunning. The pleated dresses and the beaded tights definitely show the skill level these girls are working at. I definitely think we will see a lot of these looks becoming part of the uniform for the young fashion professional.

Marc really does have an endless amount of tricks up his sleeve. He has gone from velour and metal bondage at Studio 54 last season to Mary Poppins in French Africa for this show. A lot of people I’ve spoken to really haven’t been into this show, but I think that its a bit genius in the fact that it makes up for its own recession design by bringing in genius styling. All these outfits will be broken down and slightly modified to fill the stores with very sell-able items but somehow they have still haven’t lost what it means to be the most important and influential American designer living.

I have often thought of Phillip Lim’s line as a pretty nice GAP for fashionistas, but this season he really brought it up a notch. The dresses and suits are all very well designed, with interesting details but still remaining quite classic. For this collection Phillip collaborated with Christian Louboutin on some really great shoes that have many editorial pages in their future!

Every designer does a Studio 54 collection at one point in their careers, and Proenza Schouler is no exception. This collection is Armani-steelworker-disco to the max. The stylist, Marie Chaix, definitely has a very obvious aesthetic and it really works great with this collection- she really pushed the boys into a newer look than what we have seen from them before. And with the launch of their full scale shoe and accessory division, no deal was left un-designed.

I have never paid much attention to Malo before, but I am completely taken with Alessandro Del’Acqua’s latest collection for the label. Not only am I obsessed with the combination of prints and bead working with airy heather fabrics- I’m also love with the sort of 90’s, with almost a bit grunge-chic, styling. I’m not sure which of this looks will make it off the runway, but I would definitely be excited to see a some girls getting out there in these looks.
