Barack Obama took a “tough love” message to male youth, telling them that finishing high school is a better route to success in life than an unlikely trip to the NBA or the top of the rap industry.

“You are probably not that good a rapper. Maybe you are the next Lil’ Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school,” Obama, D-Ill., told a cheering crowd.

Obama said he knows some young men think they can’t find a job unless they are a really good basketball player.

“Which most of you brothas are not,” Obama, who played basketball in high school, a sport he continues to play to this day, said jokingly. “I know you think you are, but you’re not. You are over-rated in your own mind. You will not play in the NBA.”

it’s a bit annoying that they seem to really be aiming for an academic and thoughtful analysis of bacon and those who love it, but the commentary is sort of predictable and expected. as well as basically totally unnecessary.

Bourdain has called bacon the “gateway protein” for its astounding ability to lure vegetarians back to the carnivorous fold.

BLT ring - a stackable ring with five individual rings: a bacon ring, a tomato ring and a lettuce ring and two bread rings.

Candles - Bacon = Freedom; Lettuce = Love; Tomato = Passion. This would actually be pretty disgusting, so…don’t get me these.

city harvest invited a bunch of really awesome nyc restaurants to sample their food at the event for a good cause

a mini hotdog, topped with macaroni and cheese, resting on a pile of candy. this restaurant clearly stole one of geordons recipes. i’m not kidding.

Back Forty provided these muddled strawberry/vodka/black pepper drinks. we were sort of obsessed; scott was on a first name basis with the server. 

i started to feel sick about the lack of recycling

i struggled to hold on to my remaining dignity
